Top 50 ways to lose
weight or burn fat
41. Tackle
Food Cravings Head On
Emotional
Freedom Technique (EFT)
Many thousands
of people worldwide have benefited from applying the easy to learn
system of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to obtain long lasting
relief from many concerns – and now food cravings!
Often likened
to ‘psychological acupuncture’, the technique stimulates
pressure points on the body without needles while the person concentrates
on particular thoughts. "Psychological acupuncture can help
override our emotional and physiological responses to different
stimuli, including food," Psychologist Dr Stapleton has said.
Pioneering
the world´s first clinical trial of EFT for food cravings,
Dr Stapleton and Ms Sheldon found that 6 months after an 8 hour
treatment program ended, participants´ cravings for the
food they targeted remained significantly low and furthermore
the power of food had decreased and their restraint increased.
These benefits were maintained at 12 months with an added improvement
in BMI (Body Mass Index). It was concluded that his technique
may be beneficial for people whose food cravings contribute to
their weight problems.
42 . Set goals and rewards
If reduce
weight by x I'll have sex again :) Create food trade-offs or food
policies. One 30 minute walk = one desert. No walkies means no
desert. If you are going to have a treat, work out how much exercise
you need to do to burn it off and only have that treat if you
are willing to do the exercise. No snacks at your desk - eat them
in the kitchen. Treat yourself with none food rewards. One week
without chocolate and I'll treat myself to a massage.
43. Jogging
Jog as little
or as much as you want. If you can, avoid jogging on hard services
and make sure you have decent jogging shoes
44. Take
breaks whilst eating
Don't worry
if your food get cold - you'll eat even less. The goal should
be to eat for twenty minutes. Your fork is not a shovel. Slow
down and chew chew chew. Take the time to enjoy your food.
45. Avoid temptation
Another ways
of putting it is to avoid the cues to eat. Bakeries, takeaways
shop, don't walk through the kitchen and turn off the TV to avoid
food adverts. Think about what often gets you thinking food then
avoid it as much as possible.
46. Make eating seconds inconvenient
Serving dishes
belong in the kitchen not on the table. Anywhere really away from
you.
47. You had butter stop not eating margarine
Switch to
margarine but make sure they have no trans fats in them.
48. Our brains focus on height rather than width
This is known
as the horizontal- vertical illusion. So if you must eat ice-cream,
eat it out of a tall glass.
49. Have
more sex
No reason
why losing weight can't be fun. "Take me upstairs before
I eat this chocolate" and romance is alive and well.
50. Walk
to the shops
You'll buy
less to if you have to drag it back home
